The Sheriff's Office reported the following:


9:50 a.m., Valley Springs - A verbal altercation occurred on Daphne Street.

11:08 a.m., Valley Springs - A theft of equipment occurred on Highway 12.

4:40 p.m., San Andreas - A trespassing occurred on Gold Strike Road.


Cited on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs:


10:56 p.m., Copperopolis - Normand Lane Walton, 52, of the 3600 block of Tuni Court, was arrested at the intersection of Copper Cove Drive and Arrowhead Street.


The Sheriff's Office reported the following:


8:14 a.m., Crystal Falls - A woman on the 22000 block of Crystal Falls Drive said two people in the Los Angeles area were using her young daughter's Social Security number for employment.

9:44 a.m., Jamestown - Someone on the 18900 block of North Drive said a debit card was charged about $382 without authorization.

10:11 a.m., Jamestown - A man on the 17700 block of Rolling Oaks Drive said someone spray painted his fence and garage door for the second time.

11:18 a.m., Long Barn - A man said someone tried to steal batteries out of his skid loader at Little Sweden, but left a pry bar in the equipment. When the man tried to remove the bar, it caused sparks and an explosion that knocked him down. He didn't want to open a case because he did not have any suspect information, but requested extra patrol in the area.

12:20 p.m., Jamestown - Someone spray painted "gang" graffiti on cars parked on the 10500 block of Petticoat Junction Drive.


6:28 a.m., Jamestown - A tool belt, tools and backpack were taken from a vehicle on the 10300 block of Preston Lane.

Felony bookings


3:27 p.m., Sonora - Stephen Thomas Belt, 34, of an unknown address in Tuolumne, was booked on suspicion of transporting or selling drugs and bringing drugs into jail, after an arrest on the 400 block of South Washington Street.


Cited on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs:


2:20 a.m., Moccasin area - Jane Elizabeth Silveira, 22, of the 12000 block of Homestead Road, Groveland, was arrested on Highway 120 east of Jacksonville Road.

The Sonora Police Department reported the following:


2:15 p.m., theft - A man said someone tried to cash one of his checks at Mother Lode Bank on Stockton Road.

3:16 p.m., suspicious circumstances - Two men were seen at Sonora High School handing out fliers promoting a weekend party in Tuolumne where alcohol will be served. They were gone when officers arrived.

5:48 p.m., theft - A woman's purse was stolen on the 1200 block of Sanguinetti Road and her credit card was used to purchase $200 worth of items.
