The Professional Referral Organization of Sonora hosts a business meeting at 7 a.m. every Tuesday at Perko's Cafe, 824 Mono Way, Sonora.

Business Forums will be held Feb. 21 and March 20.

FoCuS Seed

sharing event

The Foothill Collaborative for Sustainability will have its fourth annual FoCuS Seed Sharing event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 11 in the Columbia Elementary School cafeteria and library.

Non-genetically modified, open pollinated seeds will be provided by local farmers and reputable seed sources. Those who attend can also bring non-GMO seeds to share.

Free workshops and hands-on demonstration will be offered.

The cost is $10 for 10 seed packs of your choice, with proceeds going to benefit FoCuS oriented projects in the community.

Tax program

The AARP Tax Aide Program will offer free federal and state tax return assistance to middle and lower income individuals every Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday through April 10 at the Tuolumne County Senior Center, 540 Greenley Road, Sonora.

Assistance will be offered by certified counselors, with special attention being given to those age 60 and older.

Those requiring assistance should bring a copy of their previous year's tax return, all 2011 W-2 and 1099 forms, any information sent by the IRS, and any documentation that may help reduce taxes.

Free electronic filing is also available, which, along with direct deposit, will allow you to receive your refund in about a week.

This is a walk in site, so no appointment is necessary.

Free classes

California Connects will be offering free computer classes beginning Feb. 13.

Classes consist of four, two-hour sessions, and are designed to get first time and novice computer users using email and the Internet.

Classes will be held Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Mother Lode Job Connection, 19890 Cedar Road North, Sonora, and from 9 to 11 a.m., and 5 to 7 p.m. at ATCAA, 427 North Highway 49, third floor, Sonora.

An additional class will also be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 4 p.m. at ATCAA.
