The University of California Cooperative Extension and Calaveras County Department of Agriculture will host a Yellow Starthistle Management Workshop from 1 to 3 p.m., Jan. 13, at the Calaveras County Library, 1299 Gold Hunter Road, San Andreas.

The workshop will cover the different management strategies for yellow starthistle, ranging from biological, mechanical and chemical control. Other topics to be covered include regulatory concerns when spraying herbicides, and the identification and control of tarweeds.

The workshop is free, but reservations are needed since space is limited.
