The plight of hospitalized children caught the attention of Save Mart customers and employees during the company's annual "Helping Hands, Healing Kids" icon campaign in July. The stores sold paper icons for $1 each, decorating walls and doors with signed icons.

The total raised this year was a record breaking $202,231.

Children's Hospitals combine personal care with sophisticated, state-of-the-art technology to provide essential 24-hour care and services such as trauma, burn, neonatal intensive care and pediatric intensive care units to children from all counties in California and children with special needs from throughout the country and the world.

Canceled classes

The following classes sponsored by the Tuolumne County Business Alliance and Tuolumne County Economic Development Authority have been canceled.

The Customer Service 1 class on Wednesday; Customer Service 2 class on Aug. 31; Customer Relations 1 class on Sept. 14; and Customer Relations 2 class on Sept. 21.

Sonora designer Shiree Segerstrom is featured in April's issue of C magazine, a publication that celebrates California's unique style.

The article is titled "A Local Luminary Shares Her Hometown Favorites."

Segerstrom formerly operated a design store, S.S. Home, in downtown Sonora and now bases her business on the Web, with custom interior designs in the Sonora and Sacramento areas and occasional work in San Francisco and Los Angeles.

New manager

The Angels Camp Business Association has hired Shelby French as its new manager for the Fresh Fridays Certified Farmers Market.

French, from Bar XX via Fairfield, comes to the market with many years of marketing experience gained from employment as sales manager for iBar Threading Salon and marketing manager at Reynolds Family Winery in Napa.

French create a weekly newsletter including seasonal recipes, theme nights and opportunities for not-for-profit groups as well as local business to build their brands, showcase their wares and cross-market. She is well-versed in social media and feels that it is imperative that the Angels Camp Business Association utilize them as a marketing resource.
