The 140 Characters Conference - Central Sierra will be held from 9

a.m. to 5 p.m. May 24 at Black Oak Elementary School, 18995 Twain Harte Drive, Twain Harte.

The cost is $89 per ticket, and for nonprofit organizations the cost is $20 per ticket and a $1.49 processing fee.

The conference explores the effects of social media (Facebook,

Twitter, YouTube and others) and the emerging real-time Internet on

individuals, organizations and regions. The goal is to bring together a

diverse group of people to share their perspectives, experiences and

stories about how the real-time Internet is affecting their industry

sectors and the people inside them.

Presentations are limited to 10-20 minutes each, with no PowerPoint

presentations, to permit as many people as possible to share their

stories. Presenters are selected to stimulate discussion across a wide

range of sectors including business, agriculture, government, tourism,

education, entertainment, nonprofit and more.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Amador-Tuolumne Community Action Agency Digital Literacy Program.

New business

The CornerSpace Cafe is now open from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday

through Friday in the Indian Rock Center, 14520 Mono Way, Sonora.

Owned and operated by Michalina and Ann Markowitz, the cafe offers

classic bakery and deli items like cinnamon rolls, blueberry

cream-cheese filled coffee cake, sandwiches, quiche and salads. It also

offers specialty items like bacon cupcakes with maple frosting.

Expresso drinks and smoothies are served as well.

The cafe also bakes specialty cakes for any occasion. For more information, call 532-4112.

Sasha's Land Clearing is now offering tree, limb and brush clearing

services, as well as minor excavation and agricultural development.

Owner, Sasha Farkas, is well-known for his work with the Tuolumne

County Farm Bureau and Cedar Ridge Apple Ranch. He is a licensed

contractor in tree work and general engineering construction.For more
