Bomb scare on Big Hill

The Calaveras County Bomb Squad destroyed a suspected pipe bomb on Big Hill in Columbia Thursday afternoon, Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office officials confirmed.

There were a couple of suspected pipe bombs that turned out to not be

bombs at all, according to Lt. Ken Diaz of the Sheriff's Office.

The incident was on Big Hill Road, above the Quail Mine turnoff.
