Workshop to be held on Dec. 15

The Small Business Administration will host a workshop this month to help small entrepreneurs navigate federal loan programs.

The meeting will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, in the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors chambers on the fourth floor of 2 S. Green St. in Sonora.

Admission is free.

John Manalli, the SBA Fresno district deputy director, will lead a

two-hour presentation to educate bankers and business owners on the new

rules surrounding Small Business Administration loans.

Manalli has 25 years of banking experience, four years working with

the SBA and five years in public accounting and small business

consulting.

Bankers will receive an overview of the CAPline program - an

umbrella program that encompasses five different kinds of business

loans - as well as information on new refinancing rules.

Potential borrowers will hear about the kinds of loans available,

money-saving fee waivers and the wide range of new businesses that

qualify for SBA loans.

The presentation will cover some "pretty significant changes" that

are critical for businesses who want loans and banks who want to give

them out, said Kurt Clark, director of the Alliance Small Business

Development Center.

According to Clark, several recent pieces of legislation -

including the Small Business Jobs Act passed in October - have opened

up loans to new industries, such as mini-storage facilities, and

created opportunities for businesses with existing loans to refinance.

"I would encourage people if they think at any point they will be

interested in getting an SBA loan to come to this meeting," Clark said.

It is sponsored by the SBA, SBDC and local chapter of SCORE, the Service Corps of Retired Executives.
