Yosemite Chamber of Commerce officers installed

The Yosemite Chamber of Commerce installed a new slate of directors and officers Oct. 28 at its annual dinner and meeting.

The 2011 officers, installed by Tuolumne County District 4 Supervisor John Gray, are: James Nagle, president; Rick Whybra, vice president; Lynn Upthagrove, secretary; and Cathy Leetham, treasurer. Directors-at-Large are: Pam Oler, Jerry Baker, Paul Pieretti, Colton Kline and Christina Wilkinson.

Park, spoke to the chamber membership on events taking place in the


Special presentations were made to honor Jackie Sample, who retired

from the chamber after six and a half years as the chamber's

administrative assistant; Steve and Cindy Watts, general managers of

the 2010 49er Festival and Chili Cook-off; Kay Glaves, the "Queen of

Groveland," for her dedication of 25 years decorating Groveland and

points beyond for the 49er Festivals, Town and Highway 120 Christmas

decoration, the annual Daffodils for Cancer and many other projects.

Retiring Chamber Director Larry Fuller received the Lucky Yosemite Chamber of Commerce Golden Ticket.

Other special guests in attendance included National Park Branch

Chief of Public Involvement and Outreach Donna Sisson; Yosemite Fire

Education and Information Manager Gary Wuchner; Tuolumne County

Director of Economic Development Larry Cope; Tuolumne County Visitors

Bureau Executive Director Nanci Sikes; National Park Service

Legislative Specialist for the U.S. Senate Michael Gauthier; Tuolumne

County Board of Realtors President-Elect Robin Rowland; and Executive

Officer of the Association Ann Ritchie.

Gauthier was also installed as an honorary member of the Yosemite Chamber of Commerce.

The Honorary Mayor and Deputy Mayors were honored and presented

their sponsors' checks from the chamber. The chamber presented $281 to

Connections Film Academy, sponsor of Deputy Mayor "Bethany the Kid,"

$407 to 49er Little League, sponsor of Deputy Mayor "Pistol Packin'

Peggie," $1,165 to Groveland Dog Park, sponsor of Deputy Mayor "Goose

the Dog" and $1,211 to Soroptimists International of Groveland, the

sponsor of the 2011 Honorary Mayor, "Naughty Nadele." A total of $3,064

was awarded to the community sponsors.

A total of 108 members and guests attended the event.
