Sharp, Fernandez to lead UD Circulation

Union Democrat staff /

The Union Democrat has hired Sharon Sharp as its circulation manager.

She has responsibilities for the timely home delivery of the newspaper to its subscribers.

Sharp will also direct sales, marketing and promotion efforts and build community partnerships and dealer relationships for the newspaper.

Sharp had previously worked for the newspaper from 1989-2004 in

circulation accounting and as a circulation supervisor. For the last

four years, she has been employed in various capacities by Sierra

Pacific Industries.

Sharp was born and raised in Tuolumne County. She graduated from Sonora High School and attended Columbia College.

The newspaper also announced the promotion of Calisha Fernandez to

circulation operations supervisor. She has worked for The Union

Democrat for five years, most recently as customer service supervisor.

Fernandez will oversee customer service, revenue collection and

accounting, records maintenance and day-to-day office operations. She

will also continue to direct the Newspaper in Education program.

Fernandez is a long-time resident of the county and graduated from Sonora High School.

Sharp said she is pleased for the opportunity to return to The Union Democrat.

"Calisha and the entire staff have been helpful and supportive upon

my return. Our immediate focus is to insure that our subscribers are

satisfied with their service. We have contracted with an outstanding

group of newspaper carriers who care about our customers."

Publisher Ron Horton praised both Sharp and Fernandez as

resourceful, dedicated and experienced leaders: "We're confident that

Sharon, Calisha and our entire circulation team will work to maintain

consistent delivery schedules, improve customer service and grow our

circulation base."
