The birds and the bees

A bee enjoys mild temperatures while buzzing about some rosemary this week. The National Weather Service forecast is for more of the same partly cloudy skies with areas of patchy fog and high temperatures in the 50s and 60s through Thursday, except for a brief return to seasonable weather tonight and tomorrow. A chance of rain and higher-elevation snow is expected by tomorrow morning. The snow level is expected to dip to 5,500 feet tomorrow. Although most herbs do not take off until mid-May, winter hardy rosemary plants are flowering, and established lavender plants should begin blooming soon. Spring-like conditions have not fooled other herbs that grow well in the area. Mint, thyme and other favorites remain dormant.
