It's official: The county library's Copperopolis branch will move to the Copper Cove Center.

Calaveras County Supervisors voted unanimously on Monday to move the library from 49 Cosmic Court to office space at 60 Copper Cove Drive.

The library was forced to move because its lease with Lemke Properties will end Feb. 1, and the company wants the space back.

The new location is 1,675 square feet and will cost $1,675 per month $827 more each month than what it now pays.

After discussions with Friends of the Library a group of volunteers who raise money for the county library system supervisors agreed that the county will continue paying $848 per month to rent space for the library.

Of the $827 difference, the county Building Department will chip in $300 per month to use 300 square feet of office space. The remaining $527 will be paid each month through savings, donations and fund raisers by Friends of the Library.

The new lease with the Copper Cove Center will likely be signed by Friday, supervisors said.

In other meeting news:

? Monday's meeting was the first for Rancho Calaveras resident Victoria Erickson as District 5 Supervisor.

Family and friends filled the left side of a packed Board of Supervisors chamber as Erickson and other elected officials were sworn into office.

After taking her oath, Erickson sat down in her new seat next to County Administrative Officer Tom Mitchell.

"It was cool, but kind of embarrassing," Erickson said of her long-awaited experience. "This whole half of the room was my family."

Erickson's uncle Calaveras County Sheriff Dennis Downum left his niece a supervisor's survival kit at her new seat. The kit was a brown basket, filled chocolate, coffee, antacids, pain relievers and dietary supplements.
