CCWD to talk boundaries

Calaveras County Water District directors Tuesday will again take up changing district boundaries and changing the agency's name.

Directors have discussed both topics for several months.

CCWD's district boundaries coincide with the old county supervisorial district boundaries. Those lines were changed shortly after the 2000 census numbers, and the CCWD board might do the same.

The other item a name change was first suggested in the 2001-02 Grand Jury report, because, jury members said, the name implies the district is part of county government, which it is not.

Board Chairman Jeff Davidson voiced approval of a name change, but other members of the board said they like the name the way it is. The discussion will continue at Tuesday's meeting.

Directors also will be asked to approve a purchasing and receiving policy, as well as variance, fee waiver and exemption policies.

During the only December meeting of the board, directors will hear a report on the status of a strategic planning workshop and items related to the Utica Power Authority, a water and hydroelectric joint powers agency of which CCWD is a member.

General Manager John Stewart is scheduled to report on the project schedule for Bear Creek Improvements, update the Forest Meadows Master Plan and discuss the town hall meeting schedule for New Hogan and La Contenta Wastewater Facility plans and development fees, among other topics.
