6:34 a.m., Twain Harte A caller said a man was lying outside the Twain Harte Post Office on Fuller Road talking to himself.

10:29 a.m., Jamestown A caller said a woman from France left a camera on a picnic bench at Rocca Park. The caller turned the camera into the Jamestown Community Service Unit office on Main Street.

11:35 a.m., Sonora A woman said her handbag was stolen from her work on the fourth floor of the Francisco building on Yaney Avenue. She later found the purse in a trash can in the building's parking lot.

3:18 p.m., Twain Harte A Twain Harte Market manager said two computer-generated checks were passed at the store fraudulently.

4:09 p.m., Tuolumne A caller said trash was dumped onto her property on the 18300 block of Gardner Avenue. The caller gave a dispatcher the license plate number of the vehicle the person who dumped the trash was driving.

7:45 p.m., Groveland A woman on the 12800 block of Mt. Jefferson Street said a boat docked near her house was broken into.

8:58 p.m., Pinecrest A Forest Service dispatcher asked for a deputy to check a house on the 20 block of Highland Way because teens had a large fire going in the yard. When a deputy arrived, the fire was out.

9:57 p.m., Sonora Meadows A caller said a child was screaming from somewhere on Bear River Drive and Creekside Drive.

10:21 p.m., Soulsbyville area A woman said another woman in a red Ford Escort tried to run the caller off the road then threw things at the caller's car. Both women stopped by the side of Standard Road and the woman in the Ford threatened the caller.


12:05 a.m., Tuolumne A woman said a man shot himself in the arm at a house on Madrone Street.

2:20 a.m., Columbia A woman said she was assaulted by someone at a mobile home park on Parrotts Ferry Road.

Felony bookings


7:50 a.m., Sonora William Daniel Ray, 18, 20500 block of Ponderosa Way, Tuolumne booked on a warrant charging him with burglary after he turned himself in at the county jail. He was released on his own recognizance after appearing in court Wednesday.

8:23 a.m., Sonora Johnny DeWayne Ruhga, 33, 19900 block of Rough and Ready Trail, Sonora, booked on a Calaveras County warrant charging him with possessing a controlled narcotic substance and a controlled substance and misdemeanor warrants from both Calaveras and Tuolumne counties charging him with failure to appear in court and driving on a suspended license. He turned himself in at the county jail and remained held this morning in lieu of $25,000 bail.

7:29 p.m., Groveland area Thomas Lee Moss, 20, 5100 block of Howes Lane, San Jose, booked on suspicion of acquiring an access card without the owner's consent and using the access card without consent. He was arrested at San Jose Family Camp on the 11400 block of Cherry Oil Road. No details were available. He remained held this morning in lieu of $5,000 bail.

9:47 p.m., Soulsbyville area Karen Lois Bisset, 49, undisclosed address on Little John Road, Copperopolis, booked on a warrant charging her with possessing a controlled substance as well as resisting arrest and public drunkenness.

A man said Bisset was at a house on the 19000 block of Yost Ranch Road causing a disturbance and refusing to leave. A deputy went there and arrested Bisset on the warrant. She remained held this morning in lieu of $8,000 bail.

11:25 p.m., Groveland David Phillip Vines, 47, 19200 block of Second Garrotte Ridge Road, Groveland, and Nicole Marie Vanderschans, 21, homeless, both booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance after a traffic stop and arrest on Highway 120 at Deer Flat Road. Vanderschans was also booked on suspicion of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and a hypodermic needle. Vines was released Wednesday after posting $10,000 bail. Vanderschans remained in custody this morning, held in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Bradley Scott Etchells, 42, of San Francisco, booked at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday after an arrest on Highway 108 at Via Este Road, Soulsbyville area.

Julia Katherine Costanza, 30, 10900 block of Belmont Drive, Sonora, booked at 12:34 a.m. yesterday after arrest on South Washington Street at Stockton Road, Sonora.

7:49 a.m., traffic accident No one was injured in a traffic accident on North Washington Street.

8:19 a.m., suspicious circumstances A caller reported a large pool of blood on the pavement at a business on the 1100 block of Mono Way. An officer looked at the substance and determined it was not blood.

12:18 a.m., theft A caller on the 600 block of South Stewart Street said items were stolen from the house.

1:54 p.m., miscellaneous codes A caller said a street lamp on the corner of Pasadena Avenue and West Lane was out. PG&E was notified.

3:13 p.m., suspicious circumstances A caller on the 200 block of South Barretta Street said someone has been tampering with a storage room under an apartment building.

3:14 p.m., animal complaints A caller said a dog was locked inside a truck with a camper shell on South Stewart Street. The truck was gone when an officer arrived.

3:25 p.m., theft A woman said a purse was stolen from a car parked in The Timberhills shopping center.

4:45 p.m., hazardous situation A caller said a wire was hanging too low from power pole over the 500 block of South Barretta Street.

5:20 p.m., vandalism A woman on the 200 block of Greenley Road said someone cut up the inside of her car, the passenger door and the roof.

5:37 p.m., theft A purse was reported stolen from a woman at Wal-Mart.

5:47 p.m., traffic accident No one was injured in a traffic accident on Morning Star Drive.

6:29 p.m., theft A Nikon camera was reported stolen from a person at Coffill Park on South Washington Street.

7:06 p.m., vandalism A caller on the 80 block of East Church Street said lawn ornaments were stolen.

8:19 p.m., animal complaints A caller said a tan and white dog was tied up in front of Coffill Park on South Washington Street for about four hours. An officer and the dog's owner showed up about the same time and the owner took the dog.

8:26 p.m., public intoxication A 48-year-old man was booked on suspicion of public drunkenness after an arrest in Coffill Park.

9:45 p.m., found property A caller on the 100 block of Columbia Way said a red bike had been leaning against a fence for a day.




2:15 p.m., East Sonora A spot fire was reported on Highway 108 at Tuolumne Road, causing about $1,000 damage to grass and decking. Cause of the fire is under investigation. California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, Tuolumne County Fire Department, one engine from the U.S. Forest Service, Sonora City Fire Department and one bulldozer and one crew from Baseline Conservation Camp responded.

8:12 a.m., Arnold A vehicle was vandalized on the 2600 block of Shirewood Lane.

9:58 a.m., Mokelumne Hill A car stereo was stolen on the 10900 block of Jesus Maria Road.

10:01 a.m., Arnold Church property was vandalized at Grizzly Plaza on Highway 4.

10:23 a.m., Copperopolis Items were stolen from a trailer on the 2200 block of Arrowhead Street.

1:23 p.m., San Andreas Stolen and forged checks were used at Treats grocery store on Highway 49.

1:24 p.m., Valley Springs A case of identity theft from e-Bay was reported on the 9700 block of Indian Creek Road.

1:31 p.m., Copperopolis A neighbor dispute was reported on the 800 block of Foothill Court.

1:51 p.m., Mokelumne Hill A house was entered on the 7000 block of Highway 26, however, nothing was stolen.

3:07 p.m., Valley Springs Some beer was stolen from a Budweiser truck parked at a gas station on Vista Del Lago Drive.

4:45 p.m., Valley Springs A 24-ounce Bud Ice was stolen from a store on the 500 block of East Highway 12.

4:49 p.m., Valley Springs An argument was reported on the 100 block of Sequoia Avenue.

5:32 p.m., Arnold A vehicle was vandalized on the 100 block of Meadow View Court.

6:55 p.m., Burson A man and woman were arguing and left a vehicle abandoned near a Mexican restaurant.

9:19 p.m., West Point A caller on the 3700 block of Bald Mountain Road said someone came on his porch, unplugged his motion lights and left his vehicle door open.

9:57 p.m., Sheep Ranch area A caller on Fullen Road said two huge red and white cows and a pig were on her property. She said the animals, which belong to a neighbor, were turned loose during the Calaveras Complex Fire.


12:31 a.m., Valley Springs A caller on the 2900 block of Hartvickson Lane said she heard a big bang on one side of her house.

Felony bookings


11:30 a.m., Angels Camp Garrett Eugene Bowman, 18, unknown address, Angels Camp, booked on suspicion of burglary and grand theft. As of this morning, Bowman remained in custody at the Calaveras County Jail in lieu of $45,000 bail.



11:15 a.m., Valley Springs area A three-acre fire was reported on the 2100 block of Evans Road. Damage was estimated at $3,900 to grass and a small building. Someone mowing weeds started the blaze. A citation was issued. John Hunt of the same address owns the land. CDF, Foothill Fire Protection District, two air tankers, San Andreas Fire Protection District, Jenny Lind Fire Protection District, one bulldozer from Altaville, two crews from Vallecito Conservation Camp, and one spotter plane, two air tankers and one helicopter from Columbia Air Base responded.

4:15 p.m., Copperopolis area A four-acre grass fire was reported on Highway 4 at Poole Station Road. Damage was estimated at $800. Landowner is unknown. Cause is under investigation. CDF, five crews from Vallecito Conservation Camp, Copperopolis Fire Protection District, Angels Camp Fire Department, Altaville-Melones Fire Protection District, San Andreas Fire Protection District and one spotter plane and one air tanker from Columbia Air Base responded.
