A 41-year-old Vallecito woman was jailed this morning on suspicion of stabbing two people in Douglas Flat.
Rebecca Steele allegedly showed up about 6 a.m. today at a trailer on the 1800 block of Ironwood Court and began making "irrational statements" to the man and woman living there, Calaveras County Sheriff's Capt. Mike Walker said.
She was acquainted with the Douglas Flat pair, Walker said, but he was unsure of the nature of the relationship between the victims and suspect.
Steele allegedly stabbed a cat before slashing Steve Neth's face three times. Walker said Neth had one long and two short lacerations to the face but refused medical treatment.
After stabbing the cat and then Neth, Steele is suspected of going into the bedroom and stabbing a woman three times in the back. The woman, whose name was unknown this morning by sheriff's officials, was taken by air ambulance to a Modesto hospital.
When deputies and emergency crews arrived, Walker said, Steele was violent "toward authorities."
Details on how Steele reacted when emergency crews arrived and the status of the two victims were unavailable. And Walker was not sure if the cat survived.
Steele was brought to the Calaveras County Jail at 7:10 a.m. and jail officials said she was to be booked later this morning or this afternoon on two counts of attempted murder, one count of cruelty to an animal and three counts of battery on a peace officer or emergency medical crews, Walker said.
