Sheriff's reports


6:32 a.m., Groveland A man on the 12700 block of Mt. Jefferson Street said gasoline was siphoned out of his van overnight while it was parked in front of his house.

11:01 a.m., Sonora A 22-year-old man was treated at Tuolumne General Hospital for a head injury after being hit with a baseball bat.

12:18 p.m., Don Pedro Reservoir area A caller said a man wearing a cap took a window screen off a house on the 4800 block of Arbolada Drive. A deputy talked to the man who turned out to be a Realtor.

1:18 p.m., Groveland A man who purchased 20 acres at the corner of Pine Mountain Drive and Ferretti Road at the entrance to Pine Mountain Lake subdivision said people are parking vehicles on his property in order to sell them.

3:40 p.m., Quail Hollow A man said three boys were firing BB guns at each other near the 12800 block of Chukar Circle. A deputy took the guns away from the boys.

3:51 p.m., East Sonora A Longs Drug Store manager said a hysterical woman was in the pharmacy causing a disturbance.

4:52 p.m., Phoenix Lake area A caller on the 19800 block of Phoenix Lake Road said a boy has been harassing her dog. On Sunday, the dog was tied up in the owner's front yard and the boy was throwing things at it and jumping up and down to annoy the dog.

5:18 p.m., Lime Kiln Road area A man said a gate at Mountain Springs Golf Course was rammed overnight, damaging a lock.

5:52 p.m., Standard A Sierra Pacific Industries security guard said a transient was camping on company property near Industrial Drive.

6:07 p.m., East Sonora A Flyers employee said a former employee was at the store on the 13700 block of Mono Way making threats.

7:23 p.m., Sonora A Tuolumne County Jail inmate assaulted another inmate.

11 p.m., Tuolumne A Black Oak Casino security guard said a guest was out of control on the gaming floor and asked for a deputy to respond.

11:29 p.m., Sonora Meadows A man said two or three people with flashlights were walking around a house on the 16500 block of Sallander Drive.

Felony bookings


12:27 a.m., Sonora Jamie Renee Gilbert, 36, 300 block of Fairview Lane, Sonora, booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest. She was arrested on Bradford Street at Stockton Road by Sonora police after a traffic stop. She was released Saturday after posting $10,000 bail.

2:12 p.m., Sonora Paul Allen Graham, 20, 20700 block of Columbia Way, Sonora, booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and receiving stolen property after an arrest on North Stewart Street at Wall Street. He remained held this morning in lieu of $10,000 bail.

7:03 p.m., Sonora area I.C. Stringfellow, 40, 20100 block of Jamestown Road, Sonora, booked on suspicion of receiving stolen property and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia after an arrest at his home.

According to a sheriff's report, Stringfellow had a DeWalt cordless drill that did not belong to him and was previously reported stolen. He was released Sunday after posting $5,000 bail.


3:09 a.m., Jamestown area James Edward Valencia III, 24, undisclosed address on Pine Street, Tuolumne, booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance for sale and while armed, transporting a controlled substance and carrying a loaded firearm in public after an arrest on Campo Seco Road near Campbells Flat Road, Jamestown.

Derek Richard Bernatz, 25, 18800 block of Cherokee Road, Tuolumne, was also booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance, selling marijuana and transporting a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to a sheriff's report, a deputy stopped a car driven by Bernatz for a traffic violation. Valencia, who is on probation, consented to a search of the car. The deputy said he found methamphetamine and marijuana that appeared to have been packaged for sale.

Valencia also had a .38 caliber Colt handgun wrapped in a red bandana in his front pocket, the deputy said. Valencia told the deputy he found the gun on a walking trail in Jamestown, according to sheriff's reports.

Both were held this morning in lieu of $20,000 bail each.


12:18 p.m., Standard area Jose Teodoro Flores, 23, undisclosed address on Tuolumne Road, Sonora, booked on suspicion of being in the United States illegally after an arrest on Highway 108 at Jenness Road. He was picked up by Immigration and Naturalization officials yesterday

1:57 a.m., Jamestown Jerry Frank Cress, 24, 18200 block of Ninth Street, Jamestown, booked on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm and misdemeanor resisting arrest after an arrest on Eighth Avenue and Seventh Street, Jamestown.

According to a sheriff's report, Cress was one of six people in a van stopped by Deputy Kelly Dickson for a traffic violation. When the van was searched with the driver's consent, Dickson found an unloaded .25 caliber semi-automatic handgun in a front-passenger door pouch. Cress was sitting in the front passenger seat. When deputies arrived and arrested Cress, he struggled, they said. Because Cress is a felon on parole, bail was set at $150,000, and Cress remained held this morning in lieu of that amount.

David Phillip Fraser Jr., 50, 16300 block of Jacksonville Road, Jamestown, booked at 1:25 a.m. Saturday after arrest on Seco Street at Jim Brady Road, Jamestown.

Denise Lucille White, 55, 11800 block of Melon Patch Lane, Columbia, booked at 9:55 p.m. Saturday after arrest on Jackson Street at Columbia Street, Columbia.

Stephen Francis Jones, 51, 9700 block of Trefoil Place, Salinas, booked at 3:30 a.m. Sunday after arrest on Lime Kiln Road at Campo Seco Road, Sonora.

David Phillip Fraser Sr., 69, 18000 block of Lime Kiln Road, Sonora, booked at 7 p.m. Sunday after arrest on Lime Kiln Road at Campo Seco Road, Sonora.

Michael Edward Newton, 39, 2000 block of Zarzamora Street, La Grange area, booked at 11 p.m. Sunday after arrest on Highway 108 south of Rawhide Road, Jamestown.

Sonora police reports


11:03 p.m., theft A man said his pickup truck parked on South Stewart Street at Lyons Street was broken into overnight.

11:49 a.m., theft A caller said his car parked on South Stewart Street at Theall Street was broken into, but nothing was stolen.

12:16 p.m., assault A 17-year-old boy reportedly burned a 10-year-old's hand with a lighter at an undisclosed address on Greenley Road.

12:38 p.m., traffic accident No one was injured when a vehicle rolled into another one in a parking lot at Sonora Crossroads shopping center.

3:22 p.m., burglary A car parked on South Stewart Street was broken into and papers were taken.

11:15 a.m., Arnold Stop signs on several streets were knocked over.

12:11 p.m., Avery Two dogs were found in the woods near Douds Landing, and it appeared they might have been out there a long time.

1:22 p.m., Valley Springs A clerk reported that a male customer was belligerent at a gas station and pushing around his girlfriend.

3:16 p.m., Dorrington A cabin on the 2000 block of Sioux Trail was reportedly vandalized.

8:16 p.m., San Andreas A woman on the 200 block of Pope Street said she was being harassed by a group of teenagers, and asked that their parents be contacted.


12:16 a.m., Murphys A woman on the 300 block of Bret Harte Drive said there were satellite beams shooting into her house.

12:43 p.m., San Andreas A caller said two men were fighting at a car wash.

3:17 p.m., Copperopolis A man in Las Vegas said his ex-wife, who lives in Copperopolis, gave his go-cart to her new boyfriend.

3:50 p.m., Angels Camp A caller on the 100 block of Acorn Drive said someone was continually ringing the doorbell the night before. The caller found a muddy hand print on a side door and cans in the yard. Someone also stole the caller's American flag, which hung outside the door.

5:29 p.m., Murphys A housesitter on the 1000 block of French Gulch Road saw two men hooking up the homeowners' car to a tow-truck. A deputy arrived and learned the men had an agreement with the owners to pick up the vehicle and return it when the homeowners came back.

5:56 p.m., Avery A woman on the 4000 block of Moran Road said she saw two men vandalizing her vehicle during the night.

10:46 p.m., Valley Springs A woman calling from the 30 block of Highway 26 said a vehicle tried to run her off the road three times.

Felony bookings


10 p.m., Valley Springs A 39-year-old Ione man was booked on suspicion of grand theft, spousal battery and forging checks after arrest on out-of-county warrants at a Valley Springs mini mart. As of this morning, he was still in custody in lieu of $20,000 bail.

10:45 p.m., Angels Camp Augustin Angel Zepeda, 19, 600 block of Amador, Angels Camp, booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and being under the influence of alcohol or drugs after arrest on San Joaquin and Amador streets. As of this morning, he was still in custody in lieu of $20,000 bail.

William Shepard, 47, 4000 block of Heney Court, Valley Springs, booked at 4:19 p.m. Saturday after arrest on Milton Road and Main Street, Jenny Lind.

Donald Frank Van Laeken, 53, 2000 block of Morgan Road, Clayton, booked at 12:20 a.m. Sunday after arrest on Main and Jones streets, Murphys.
