Brandie Ancar, 9, of Mountain Ranch, leaps over a pile of bright orange pumpkins at Cover's Apple Ranch near Tuolumne. Students from Christian Heritage Academy in San Andreas headed to the ranch for a fall field trip yesterday. While there, students were given a tour of the apple orchards, then watched the fruit get peeled, cored and piled onto the crust of a "mile high" apple pie in the making. Christian Heritage Academy is a home school that includes 20 families from both Tuolumne and Calaveras counties.
