6:46 a.m., Tuolumne A caller on the 18300 block of Chestnut Street said the Longhorn Saloon and a nearby car had been spray painted.

7:26 a.m., Jamestown Ten to 15 gallons of diesel fuel were stolen from a big rig, a caller on Preston Lane said.

8:14 a.m., East Sonora A caller from Peter Builds Transmissions, 20000 block of Highway 108, said four tires and wheels were stolen from a car that was at the transmission shop for work.

9:19 a.m., Tuolumne The Tuolumne park, pool and Memorial Hall were vandalized, said a caller on the 18400 block of Chestnut Avenue.

9:44 a.m., Pinecrest A caller from Pinecrest Elementary School, 30400 block of Old Strawberry Road, said a parent known to be combative was irate and on his way to the school to talk about a problem with his child. The parent met with the superintendent and no law enforcement was needed.

9:46 a.m., Tuolumne The Hair Lair, 18300 block of Bay Street, was spray painted in black overnight. A neighboring building was also vandalized.

10:18 a.m., Jamestown A caller on the 8800 block of French Flat Road said his pink slip, CD player and car keys were taken from his vehicle.

10:25 a.m., Big Hill A woman on the 13200 block of Shale Rock Road said two messages were left on her answering machine threatening to kill her barking dog. The caller said her dog wears a bark collar at night, but not during the day.

10:54 a.m., East Sonora A woman dropped into the sheriff's office after a man threw a frozen package of turkey at her in Albertson's, 13700 block of Mono Way. The package struck her foot.

11:07 a.m., Sierra Village A caller on Prospector Drive reported two black men driving a late model metallic gold Mitsubishi sedan in the neighborhood and said they looked suspicious, like they might be scoping out the neighborhood. Deputies later found the car and determined the men were using a vacation or rental house.

12:01 p.m., Jamestown A caller on the 19000 block of North Drive said CDs and her husband's wallet were stolen overnight from their two unlocked cars.

12:55 pm., Tuolumne A caller on the 17800 block of Robin Ridge Road said a credit card had been stolen from her mailbox and used at Sonora businesses.

1:06 p.m., Tuttletown A caller on 20200 Azevedo Lane said a cashier's check and $2,000 in cash were stolen from her home while she was away for two hours.

2:57 p.m., East Sonora A caller driving on Highway 108 said a gold 1992 GMC pick-up was pulled off the side of the road. The caller walked down a trail and found what he thought were human remains which turned out to be deer remains.

3:14 p.m., Sonora area A man returning from a two-week vacation to his home on the 11000 block of Lincoln Court said someone punched a hole through his basement lock and he couldn't get into it.

3:33 p.m., East Sonora A caller from a store in The Junction shopping center on the 13700 block of Mono Way said two men removed an antenna from an employee's vehicle and were using it to get into a white car parked in front of the store.

4:20 p.m., Groveland A caller on Highway 120 near Rainbow Pools said someone threw a ball hitch through his vehicle window and stole items.

4:40 p.m., Sonora area A caller on the 18400 block of Striker Court said a woman who was previously sleeping on the pavement was setting up camp in a parking lot.

5:13 p.m., La Grange A woman said the front door of her house, on 14300 Penescal Road, was open when she came home and items were moved around.

5:22 p.m., Pinecrest An employee of Pinecrest Marina, 50 block of Pinecrest Avenue, said a kayak was taken.

5:37 p.m., Jamestown A caller on the 10300 block of Preston Lane said about 15 men were outside causing a ruckus and the caller was concerned for the safety of her children.

6:13 p.m., Jamestown A caller on an undisclosed block of Highway 108 complained that an auto shop had kept her car more than five months. She said employees had made many excuses and delays, had told her the tires were stolen and had offered to sell the vehicle, which the caller declined. The caller also said the owner of the shop had a lien sale on her vehicle without talking to her.

10:08 p.m., Jamestown A man calling on the 14500 block of Mill Villa Road said his brother, who doesn't live there and wasn't invited, was passed out on the caller's couch.

9:46 a.m., Sonora Kyle Chase Hutchens, 23, 2200 block of Oakdale Circle, Simi Valley, booked on a bench warrant for assault with a deadly weapon, after turning himself in to the Tuolumne County jail. he was released this morning.

2:44 p.m., Jamestown Raul Alfredo Garcia, 21, 600 block of Benson Avenue, Modesto, and Rafael Godinez Jr., 32, 12800 block of Mono Way, Sonora, booked on suspicion of conspiracy and burglary after arrest at Yosemite Junction. Each was held this morning in lieu of $15,000 bail.

8:01 p.m., Crystal Falls Walter Charles Torrey, 30, 16500 block of South Creekside Drive, Sonora, booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance after arrest on Crystal Lake Drive near the tennis courts. Torrey was held this morning in lieu of $10,000 bail.

8:50 p.m., Jamestown Tony David Kassay, 24, 21300 block of Tuolumne Road, was booked on suspicion of carrying a concealed double-bladed knife and possession of a controlled substance after arrest on the 10300 block of Preston Lane. Kassay was held this morning in lieu of $10,000.



3:34 p.m., Mono Vista area A small spot fire was reported on the 17100 block of Oak Tree Lane. The flames were caused by children playing with fire. Tuolumne County owns the property. California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and Tuolumne County Fire Department responded.

11:48 a.m., fraudulent activities A man at a business on the 600 block of South Washington Street said he received a counterfeit $100 bill.

2:07 p.m., theft A man said two bikes were stolen from the 800 block of Greenley Road.

3:53 p.m., theft A woman said someone stole gas from a vehicle on the 700 block of South Barretta Street.

9:08 p.m., lost property A woman said she lost her credit card at a business on the 1100 block of Sanguinetti Road and it was being used at a Jamestown business.

11:57 p.m., public intoxication A 51-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication on the 100 block of South Washington Street.

10:57 a.m., Mokelumne Hill A man on the 12000 block of East Highway 26 complained of an ongoing problem with his neighbor shooting in the canyon behind his house.

4:09 p.m., Glencoe A black pickup has been parked near a bus stop for a few days, a caller on Ridge Road said.

6:51 p.m., San Andreas A man at a mini-mart on the 300 block of East St. Charles Street said some juveniles were harassing him.

10:12 p.m., Mokelumne Hill Someone threw a beer bottle at a car on Highway 49 and broke its windshield.

11:28 p.m., San Andreas A caller near the intersection of Russells Road and Sunset Street said several cars were racing up and down the road and being noisy.

Felony bookings


11 a.m., San Andreas Londa Katherine Kett, 38, of the 200 block of Allen Court, Murphys, booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and marijuana after she turned herself in at the Calaveras County Sheriff's Department. She was released on her own recognizance.

4 p.m., Angels Camp A 33-year-old Angels Camp man was booked on suspicion of rape, lewd acts with a child under 14 and other sexual crimes after arrest at his home. He remains in custody at the Calaveras County Jail in lieu of $300,000 bail.

10 a.m., Amador County A 23-year-old Valley Springs man was booked on suspicion of spousal battery and threatening a crime with intent to terrorize after arrest at the Amador County Jail. He remains in custody at the Calaveras County Jail in lieu of $80,000 bail.

12:03 p.m., Copperopolis A 28-year-old Copperopolis man was booked on suspicion of spousal battery and assault with a deadly weapon after arrest at a Copperopolis restaurant. He remains in custody at the Calaveras County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.


Bert Shane Ableman, 38, 800 block of Deschutes Avenue, Kennwick, Wash., was booked at 6 p.m. after being arrested earlier in Washington on a warrant for manufacturing a controlled substance in Calaveras County. Ableman was extradited to Calaveras County Jail, where he remains in custody in lieu of $75,000 bail. He is to be arraigned tomorrow. Further details were not available this morning.



7:15 p.m., Valley Springs area A roadside fire was reported on Highway 26. The fire was caused by a wheel that fell off a Ranger trailer. CDF and Foothill Fire Protection District responded.
