WEDNESDAY

8:38 p.m., Long Barn A caller said a man "is living in the house of someone who died and is selling off a lot of the deceased person's belongings."

9:10 a.m., Standard area Tools were reported stolen from a shed on the 15300 block of Cavalieri Road.

9:45 a.m., Sonora area A Mercury Cougar was towed after its driver was cited for being behind the wheel without a license at Shaws Flat and Jamestown roads.

10 a.m., Groveland A home on the 19700 block of Ferretti Road was reported burglarized.

10:49 a.m., Twain Harte Six $10 checks and $8 in cash were reported stolen from a Black Oak School classroom.

11:11 a.m., Columbia A caller said an older man seen earlier sitting on rocks near the St. Charles Saloon walked away with a 3-year-old girl and left the stroller she had been in behind.

11:15 a.m., undisclosed location A caller reported that someone has her Social Security number and is using it to apply for loans and credit cards.

11:21 a.m., Standard area A woman who reportedly refused to leave a Tuolumne Road office was gone before deputies could respond.

1:28 p.m., Cuesta Serena area A flashlight valued at $20 was reported stolen from a car parked on the 17800 block of Campbell Flat Road.

1:32 p.m., Greenley area Responding deputies could not find a mentally disturbed man reported on foot on Cedar and Cabezut roads.

2:33 p.m., Groveland area A caller reported that a 50-year-old woman was living at her mother's Pleasant View Drive home without permission.

2:38 p.m., Phoenix Lake area A caller from Sullivan Creek School, on the 16300 block of Hidden Valley Road, reported "threats from a parent."

2:41 p.m., Ranchos Poquitos A caller from the 19800 block of Corte Primero reported that a man wrote him a $1,500 check and then stopped payment.

3:43 p.m., Ponderosa Hills A Gerber Road woman said her son, 13, was "assaulted" on a Summerville Elementary School bus earlier in the afternoon.

4:07 p.m., Tuolumne A parent reported that his son's cellular phone had been stolen at Summerville High School.

5:20 p.m., East Sonora A "verbal argument stemming from a fender bender" was reported at The Junction shopping center.

5:46 p.m., Strawberry Four callers reported shooting in the River Drive area.

5:47 p.,m., Sonora area A woman calling from the 21100 block of Shaws Flat Road reported that neighbors took her radio.

5:47 p.m., Jamestown A caller using a pay phone at a Highway 108 mini-mart said he wanted to commit suicide.

5:57 p.m., Tuolumne A caller reported seeing "a drunken man urinating in public and waving his privates at passing vehicles" on Cherokee Road.

6:19 p.m., Twain Harte At home at Highway 108 and Leisure Drive was reported broken into.

6:24 p.m., Groveland Five or six teenagers were reported "on the sun screen behind the Groveland Fire Station," on the 18900 block of Highway 120.

6:24 p.m., Tuolumne A caller from the 18600 block of First Avenue reported "finding a can of beer in his mailbox with a note attached to it saying 'boom,'" and is afraid it is an "explosive device."

6:42 p.m., Sonora area Checks were reported stolen from a mailbox on the 10400 block of Mt. Brow Road.

6:55 p.m., Twain Harte A 13-year-old girl, previously reported missing, was caught shoplifting at Twain Harte Market.

8:19 p.m., Columbia A woman calling from the 10900 block of Green Street reported that her 58-year-old husband "went under the house to fix something 15 minutes ago" and has not emerged.

9:15 p.m., Sonora area A caller from the 21100 block of Lyons-Bald Mountain Road complained that he "gave money to a subject to invest and the subject sent him a check for $34,000 on a closed account."

9:23 p.m., Sonora area A woman calling from the 21100 block of Shaws Flat Road said a neighbor "just pulled a gun on her mom's husband" and said "I should pop you right now."

Felony bookings

YESTERDAY

10:52 p.m., Jamestown Edward Michael Borja, 38, Hatler Hill, Jamestown, booked on suspicion of drug possession and on a Tuolumne County warrant charging him with failing to appear in court in a previous case after arrest at a Preston Lane residence. The sheriff's office said a deputy drove to Preston Lane after reports that a man had been seen climbing in an apartment window. Although the apartment's female tenant said no one was there, Borja was found hiding under a bed. Deputies then found two bindles holding half an ounce of methamphetamine in a pants pocket. Borja was held in lieu of $5,000 bail this morning.

11:58 p.m., East Sonora George Russell Morrow, 40, Kuien Mill Road, Sonora, booked on out-of-county felony charges after arrest on Mono Way. Morrow was held without bail this morning.

Arrested

Cited for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol:

Paul Eugene Brownell, Jr., 21, Jamestown, booked at 2:40 a.m. today after arrest on Highway 108 at Golf Links Drive.

Fires

YESTERDAY

7 a.m., Groveland Arson is suspected in a fire on Ward's Ferry Road off Deer Flat Road. The fire caused $3,000 worth of damage to a Jeep Cherokee and spread to a 10-foot-by-10-foot area. CDF and Tuolumne County Fire Department responded.

YESTERDAY

1:53 a.m., suspicious circumstances A Cabezut Road caller reported hearing glass breaking across the street and "thinks that someone is vandalizing a car."

8:18 a.m., theft Money was stolen from Josephine's Europa Cafe on the 200 block of South Washington Street.

10:45 a.m., theft Stolen checks were written at a business on Greenley Road.

12:37 p.m., theft A caller said her ex-boyfriend stole $50 from her apartment on Gatewood Drive.

2:27 p.m., theft A cell phone belonging to Meals on Wheels was stolen from a parked vehicle at Sierra Village Apartments on the 200 block of Greenley Road.

4:55 p.m., warning An officer advised skate boarders they are not allowed to skate on North Washington Street.

10:19 p.m., assault Domestic violence was reported at Sierra Village Apartments on the 200 block of Greenley Road.

10:56 p.m., arrest A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication on East Bradford Avenue.

11:30 p.m., arrest A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication on South Stewart Street.

Sheriff's reports

WEDNESDAY

1:58 p.m., Avery An Avery Middle School student said his wallet was stolen while he was at school.

3:59 p.m., San Andreas Mail boxes on the corner of Calaveritas and Old Gulch roads were reported vandalized.

7:57 p.m., Circle XX A deputy responded to the 7000 block of Tapadero Street where a caller had reported sounds of children yelling and a woman screaming. Upon arrival, though, the deputy found the sounds were from an employee party.

9:33 p.m., Copperopolis A caller on Stallion Way said people were speeding up and down the road, throwing things from their vehicles.

11:16 p.m., Copperopolis A caller said three people were trying to enter his or her house through a window. A deputy arrived and could not find anyone outside.

Arrests

Cited on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol:

James Andrew Hearne, 26, 3000 block of Emereff Lane, Valley Springs, booked at 3:58 p.m. Wednesday after arrest at highways 12 and 26 in Valley Springs. A police report indicates Hearne turned right onto Highway 26 and struck a stopped vehicle in the opposite lane, causing two people minor injuries. Hearne, released on bail from Calaveras County Jail, has a Sept. 28 court hearing.
