Goals for the school year will be a topic of discussion tomorrow for the Mark Twain Union Elementary School District board.

The board won't be voting to approve a list of goals. However, the board has set aside time to talk about its list, which has been divided into six categories: overall district goals, curriculum and instruction, special education, negotiations, facilities and business services.

Some goals include bringing in more computers and technology for student use; developing ways to measure students' progress in language arts, reading and math; continuing negotiations with staff bargaining units; and writing up a facilities bond measure for the March election.

After tomorrow's meeting, revisions will be made and the list could be approved at the Thursday, Oct. 9, board meeting.

Also at this week's meeting, the board could sign an agreement to allow Chapman University students to finish their student teaching requirements in the school district.
