Almost every business day of the year, California Department of Fish and Game officials stock Tuolumne and Calaveras counties' waterways with rainbow trout. The native Californian fish are raised at the Moccasin Fish Hatchery, where they develop from eggs into half-pound denizens of the deep. About 1.2 million scaly water creatures from the hatchery are planted each year in streams and lakes. Fish and Game tech Glenda Hetz dumps a bucket of trout into Sullivan Creek.
