7:51 a.m., Lambert Lake Estates A man on the 13000 block of Mark Trail said two people have been camping near a cul-de-sac since last Wednesday. The man said he saw them defecating in the road.

10:25 a.m., East Sonora A woman on the 19400 block of Hess Avenue reported a woman was hitting vehicles in the parking lot at an apartment complex.

11:03 a.m., Tuolumne area A man on the 19000 block of Old Buchanan Mine Road said all the windows of his vehicles and one house window were broken out.

12:42 p.m., Crystal Falls A woman on the 21900 block of Russian River Drive said gasoline was siphoned out of her vehicle parked in her driveway overnight.

2:47 p.m., Phoenix Lake area A man on the 15500 block of Camino Del Parque said two motorcycles were left on his property and had been stripped of many of their parts.

6:04 p.m., Columbia A man on the 23600 block of Marble Quarry Road said his garage was burglarized while he was away.

7:06 p.m., Tuolumne The director at the Tuolumne Youth Center on Bay Street said a 14-year-old was being verbally abusive and refused to leave the building.

7:37 p.m., Shaws Flat A woman on the 21000 block of Shaws Flat Road said a man and a woman were fighting.

8:20 p.m., Columbia area A woman on the 11200 block of McKellar Drive said three people were fighting and waiting for a deputy to talk to them.

10:04 p.m., Columbia A man said four people, including a half-naked woman, were camped out in a tent at the end of a short street off Highway 49 near Parrotts Ferry Road. The man said the people appeared to be drunk.

11:08 p.m., Soulsbyville A house on the 17300 block of Valley Oak Drive was burglarized.


12:12 a.m., Cedar Ridge A man and a woman on the 23000 block of Oxbow Lane were reported physically fighting and drinking.

Felony bookings


8:13 p.m., Sonora Randy Thomas Button, 22, no address, Sonora, booked on a warrant charging him with possessing a controlled substance and failing to appear in court, and a misdemeanor charge of possessing drug paraphernalia, after an arrest on the corner of Greenley Road and Mono Way, Sonora.

He remained held without bail this morning.

8:22 p.m., Big Oak Flat Cindy Leah Cantrell, no address, Groveland, booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia after an arrest on School Street, Big Oak Flat.

A caller said there was a woman living in a tent on School Street possibly growing marijuana, a sheriff's report said. Deputies went to investigate and found Cantrell in her tent. She gave them permission to search the tent and inside, deputies said, they found .59 grams of methamphetamine and a smoking pipe. They did not find any marijuana.

Cantrell remained in custody this morning in lieu of $10,000 bail.

10:45 p.m., Jamestown Rachel Michelle Hooper, 31, 20400 block of Phoenix Lake Road, Sonora, booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after an arrest on Rawhide Road at Highway 108, Jamestown.

According to a sheriff's department report, a deputy stopped Hooper while she was driving on Highway 108 because her car closely resembled one allegedly involved in a commercial burglary.

Deputy Jerry McCaig's report said Hooper was talking rapidly and continuously and was unable to stand still, which led McCaig to believe she was under the influence of methamphetamine.

She consented to a search of her car and purse. McCaig found .35 grams of methamphetamine and a small amount of marijuana inside the car and arrested Hooper.

She remained in custody this morning in lieu of $10,000 bail.

John Alexander Marmesh, 46, 16200 block of Crestridge Avenue, Sonora, booked at 1:05 a.m. today after an arrest on Highway 108 east of Strawberry.

9:47 a.m., found property A woman found a paycheck issued by the state on Old Columbia Way and turned it over to the police department.

10:39 animal complaints A caller said a dog was locked inside a blue car parked on the 200 block of Greenley Road for more than half an hour. When an animal control officer arrived, the car was gone.

12:49 p.m., traffic accidents A car parked in the Sonora Crossroad shopping center was the victim of a hit-and-run accident.

1:30 p.m., traffic accident No one was injured when a car rear-ended an empty school bus on Hope Lane and Lyons Street.

3:29 p.m., animal complaints A woman said two pit bull dogs were running loose in Heaven for Kids park on Greenley Road.

3:36 p.m., traffic accident No one was injured when a car parked in the Old Town Sonora parking lot was hit by another car.

3:58 p.m., traffic accident Drivers of vehicles that collided on South Washington Street exchanged names and insurance information. No one was injured.

5:08 p.m., citizen assist A woman said she left her vehicle to be serviced and was driven home, but could not remember where she left her vehicle.

10:11 p.m., public intoxication A 49-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication after she was brought in by ambulance to Tuolumne General Hospital.

10:44 p.m., animal complaints A woman on the 10 block of Elkin Street said a small sheltie-type dog was in her yard and she needed it removed so she could let her own dog out.

1:58 p.m., Browns Flat area An escaped debris burn was reported off Highway 49 near Jack Page Road. No dollar damage was reported to 2 acres of dirt and brush. California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, one crew from Baseline Conservation Camp and one helicopter from Columbia Air Base responded.

12:15 p.m., San Andreas A caller said wedding rings had been stolen while the caller was vacationing in Mexico.

12:20 p.m., Milton A trailer on the 17000 block of Milton Road was burglarized.

1:23 p.m., San Andreas A package was stolen from the 1900 block of Gold Strike Road.

8 p.m., San Andreas A window was broken out on a car parked on the 500 block of Marshall.

There were no felony bookings in Calaveras County yesterday or early today.
