The man drove east on Highway 108 trying to evade the officer. But the man drove his motorcycle into a dirt field, fell over and, after a brief scuffle, the officer arrested the man.

8:59 p.m., Sonora Karl Scott Crawford, 20, 17400 block of Highway 108, Jamestown, booked on suspicion of burglary after an arrest at Pak-N-Save.
According to a Sonora police report, an employee said he saw Crawford take out one bottle of Bacardi Silver from a six-pack and pour the alcohol into an empty bottle labeled as tea. Crawford then headed toward the front door.
The employee detained Crawford and called Sonora police.
Crawford remained in custody this morning in lieu of $15,000 bail.

2:30 p.m., Sierra Village What was reported as a structure fire turned out to be a reclining chair set afire by "kids vandalizing abandoned buildings," Tuolumne County Fire officials said. Tuolumne County Fire, CDF and Mi-Wuk-Sugar Pine Fire District engines put out the fire on Long Barn-Sugar Pine Road.
7:33 a.m., Sonora An engine fire did an estimated $2,500 damage to a 25-year-old recreational vehicle at the entrance to the Mother Lode Fairgrounds. According to the Sonora Fire Department, owner Richard Sholer of Sonora was driving his 1978 Chinook Future on Stockton Road when he smelled smoke and pulled into the fairgrounds entrance. The engine compartment burst into flames. A responding Sonora Fire Department engine controlled the fire, which did not spread to the rear of the vehicle, in less than an hour.

10 p.m., Valley Springs David Lee Perry, 46, 300 block of Sequoia Avenue, Valley Springs, booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance after arrest at Valley Springs Mobile Home Park.
According to a sheriff's report, deputies were investigating the illegal use of fireworks and found methamphetamine in Perry's possession. He remained in custody this morning in lieu of $15,000 bail.
12:10 a.m., Murphys Susan Triolo Miller, 48, 900 block of Pennsylvania Gulch Road, Murphys, booked on suspicion of willful child cruelty as well as misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol content higher than .08 percent, after an arrest on Highway 4 at Pennsylvania Gulch Road. She was released after posting $10,000 bail.
12:36 a.m., Murphys Arthur Garcia Rosas, 44, 1500 block of Los Altos, Salinas, booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled narcotic substance and possessing a controlled substance in jail along with misdemeanor disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after an arrest at the Murphys Hotel on Main Street.
According to a sheriff's report, Rosas and another man were fighting at the hotel. When deputies arrived, Rosas refused to comply when a deputy asked him to stop. The deputy had to stun Rosas with a Taser gun. Once he was handcuffed, a deputy found 2 grams of cocaine in Rosas' pocket.
He was released yesterday afternoon after posting $50,000 bail.
1:40 a.m., Burson Clayton John McDonald, 26, 5200 block of Cox Drive, Valley Springs, booked on suspicion of firing a gun in a negligent manner and misdemeanor battery and drunken driving after an arrest on the 3300 block of Highway 12, Burson.
According to a sheriff's report, McDonald was fighting with a woman at her Burson home, but left after she called 911. As Rosas was driving away, he fired two shots from a handgun toward the woman, the report said. Deputies found McDonald a short distance from the house and arrested him. He remained in custody in lieu of $35,000 bail.
6:50 p.m., Murphys Jennifer Rebecca Debert, 30, 5900 block of Arrowhead Court, Hathaway Pines, booked on a Nevada felony warrant with undisclosed charges after an arrest on Main Street, Murphys. She was held without bail this morning.
