8:03 a.m., Mormon Creek area A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of making threats with a rifle at his house on the 10600 block of Highway 49. Two men at Sonora Truck Dismantlers said the man was upset about vehicles parked near the entrance to his home and waved a gun at them.

9:13 a.m., Twain Harte A man said vagrants were camping on the side of Italian Bar Road. When he asked them to leave they just moved their camp a bit further down the road.

9:51 a.m., Jamestown A man said a homeless man and a woman had been camped out behind a house on Donovan and Seco streets for about a week.

10:51 a.m., Chinese Camp A 56-year-old man was cited for driving without a license after a traffic stop on Highway 49 near Sims Road. A caller said a man and a woman were fighting at a store on Highway 49 when they drove off. Deputies spotted the truck and pulled the driver over, but he was the only occupant. Deputies could not find the woman.

12:14 p.m., Jamestown A man on the 12000 block of Jacksonville Road said his house was burglarized and a cell phone, money and other items were taken.

12:45 p.m., East Sonora A woman at The Cigarette Store said a man wrote a check on a closed account.

12:53 p.m., Cold Springs A man said he believes someone may be living in his vacation cabin on Lassen Drive because he has received a high utility bill.

1:02 p.m., Tuolumne A Black Oak Casino security officer said the casino had taken in a phony $20 bill.

1:42 p.m., Crystal Falls A man on the 16000 block of Tehachapi Court said a teenage boy and girl have been seen in the last week walking through neighbors' back yards. He was concerned they may be casing houses.

2:02 p.m., Jamestown A 31-year-old woman was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant charging her with drug violations on the 10300 block of Preston Lane.

2:28 p.m., Columbia People with children and a pitbull dog are reported to be living in a camper on Quail Mine Road on county property.

2:31 p.m., Soulsbyville A woman found a credit card on Soulsbyville Road and Willow Springs Drive and turned it over to the sheriff's department.

2:54 p.m., Groveland A Pine Mountain Lake security officer said a teenager was shooting water pistols at passing cars on Ferretti Road.

5:01 p.m., Tuttletown area A woman on the 8500 block of Wilcox Ranch Road said a weed eater was stolen from her house.

5:05 p.m., Twain Harte A caller said an elderly man was walking with a cane on a bad corner of Twain Harte Drive and Joaquin Gully Road and thought an officer ought to check on him.

5:10 p.m., Columbia A Columbia State Historic Park worker said a man has been living in cars behind a motel on Broadway Street. The caller said he has seen the man trying to get into vehicles parked at a nearby apartment building.

6:13 p.m., Big Hill A man on the 13700 block of Still Pine Road said a man is on the property making threats toward the caller's mother and yelling obscenities.

10:54 p.m., Racetrack Road area A woman on the 10600 block of Sunshine Hill Road said a man and woman were arguing and one of them was drinking.

11:47 p.m., Big Hill A woman on the 13200 block of Upper Shale Rock Road was burglarized and her possessions vandalized.

Felony bookings


Noon, Sonora Georgette Rowden-Speers, 23, 12800 block of Chukar Circle, Sonora, and Shawn Paul Speers, 32, 1800 block of North Edison Street, Stockton, booked on suspicion of taking and concealing a child without permission of the custodial parent after an arrest at Rowden-Speers' apartment.

This morning, Lt. John Steely said about 10 p.m. Tuesday, Rowden-Speers and Speers drove to Stanislaus County to visit a 15-year-old girl living in a foster home. An hour later, the girl called Rowden-Speers on her cellular phone, said she had run away and wanted to be picked up.

The couple brought the girl to Sonora and left her in an abandoned house on Stewart Street, Steely said. Stanislaus County sheriff deputies notified Tuolumne County deputies that witnesses saw the girl get into Rowden-Speers' car.

The couple was arrested at Rowden-Speers' apartment and the girl was found at the abandoned house. Rowden-Speers and Speers remained held this morning in lieu of $30,000 bail.

3:44 p.m., Sonora Michael Guy Welborn, 47, 1400 block of 18th Street, Sacramento, booked on a warrant charging him with felony battery, failing to appear for a court date and probation violation. He was brought to the county jail after being arrested in Yolo County, and remained held this morning without bail.

11:07 p.m., Jamestown John Joseph Brennan Jr., 26, 14900 block of Los Robles Lane, Sonora, booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and a deadly weapon, and on a felony parole hold, after an arrest on Preston Lane and Seco Street, Jamestown. He was also booked on suspicion of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.

According to a sheriff's department report, a deputy stopped Brennan for a traffic violation. Because Brennan is a felon on parole, the deputy was able to search the car. The deputy found a club Brennan said he used for protection, a bag containing an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine and a smoking pipe.

Brennan was held this morning without bail.

7:45 a.m., public intoxication A 50-year-old woman was booked on suspicion of public drunkenness after a caller found her laying on the ground and called police.

8:10 a.m., reckless driving A caller said the driver of a red sedan was driving recklessly near Sonora High School. An officer could not find the car.

12:33 p.m., animal complaints A man on the 100 block of South Washington Street said a stray dog was in the area. Before an animal control officer arrived the dog's owner picked him up.

1:12 p.m., unclassified A man put mustard on a car parked in front of a driveway on the 600 block of McCormick Drive. The man was frustrated he did not have a place to park his car when others block his driveway.

1:50 p.m., animal complaints A woman on the 100 block of West Bradford Street said cats were urinating on her windows.

2:02 p.m., juvenile arrest A 16-year-old Sonora High School boy was arrested by police after he was found with marijuana.

5:36 p.m., suspicious circumstances A woman on the 400 block of South Stewart Street said someone shot at her car around noon.

7:07 p.m., vandalism A man on the 1100 block of Shaws Flat Road said the ignition was ripped out of his car.

8:28 p.m., suspicious circumstances A woman on the 200 block of Summit Avenue found a plastic baggie with what appeared to be drugs inside it.

11:08 p.m., warrant arrest A 28-year-old man was arrested on the 800 block of Greenley Road on a warrant charging him with violating his probation.

10:44 a.m., Arnold A bank card was stolen from a resident on the 2300 block of Country Club Drive.

10:30 p.m., Copperopolis James Duran, 65, 1200 block Crom Street, Manteca, booked on a Mesa County, Colo., warrant charging him with check fraud after an arrest on O'Byrnes Ferry Road, Copperopolis. He remained held this morning without bail.


12:10 a.m., Valley Springs Michael Dennis Lemos, 25, 4800 block of East Acampo, Acampo, San Joaquin County, booked on suspicion of grand theft after an arrest on Vista del Lago and Hogan Dam roads. He remained held this morning in lieu of $15,000 bail.
