Spring-like mountain top

Flowers such as Owl's Clover, Red Maids, Monkey Flower and Lupine are just beginning to blossom on Table Mountain and should be in full bloom within the next week. The blooming season is relatively short atop the plateau, and most flowers begin to wither toward the end of March because of a lack of top soil. Although much of Table Mountain is privately owned, hikers can access it from a trailhead along Shell Road in Jamestown. Wildflower seekers can also attend an interpretive hike planned by the New Melones Visitor Center on March 23 and catch the tail end of the blooming season.
