Three Sonora women have posed for a 2013 calendar that will help fight leukemia and other blood cancers.

Leeann Lupo, Caitlyn Roberson and a third woman who later decided she does not want her name used are featured in a variety of settings accompanied by inspirational and celebrity quotations.

The calendar, photographed by Arica Brie Sobel of Capturing Calaveras in Angels Camp, is part of their fundraising effort, which also includes running in the Nike Women's Marathon next month.

The calendars, titled "Girls on the Run," are priced at $20 each and can be ordered online

"We three local girls have found a way to contribute to the cause," Lupo said. "By joining the Team In Training, a part of the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, we have committed to be a part of a group of athletes that will be running the Nike Women's Marathon on Oct. 14 in hopes of raising over $2,500 each."

The money will go directly to research, treatment, education and community service programs for leukemia and other blood cancers, she said.

"This amazing nonprofit organization has raised over $1.3 billion since its inception in 1988," Lupo said.

Team In Training offers runners, walkers and cyclists of all fitness abilities a four- to five-month comprehensive training program under the guidance of professional coaches.

More than half a million athletes have been trained in the program.

Lupo has one son and described herself as a cross fitness fanatic. Roberson, who was pregnant at the time the calendar was shot, is a runner who gave birth earlier this month.

The third woman, who will still run in the marathon and appear in the caldendar, is an avid biker and runner with three daughters.

"Cancer effects everbody in some way," Sobel said. "Producing this calendar is a way to show love for anybody dealing with disease."

"We have had fun with Arica putting this fun-filled calendar together," Roberson added. "We hope people enjoy each and every month of this calendar and know that they are donating to an excellent cause."
