Collaborative offers training in construction
A six-week training program designed for participants to learn basic construction skills, concrete forming, and earn a number of industry-recognized certificates along the way is scheduled to begin on Feb. 5.
The class runs through mid-March and is organized through a collaborative effort involving the Tuolumne County Superintendent of Schools Office, San Joaquin County Office of Education, Greater Valley Conservation Corps, Tuolumne County Probation Department, Mother Lode Job Training, Northern California Carpenters Training Center, Laborers Joint Apprenticeship Council, and San Francisco Public Utilities Commission.
The pre-apprenticeship training program was designed to prepare individuals to enter the trades for work in the public and private construction industry, including SFPUC Infrastructure projects. Another goal is to develop enough skilled workers who live in the region to fill jobs in the community and keep the money earned local.
This is the third cycle of training offered through this collaborative effort, and participants from past trainings have had a very high rate of success in getting and retaining entry level work in the construction trades.
