Job fair offers opportunities
The Union Democrat will host the Mother Lode Job Fair Thursday in the Manzanita building at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds in Sonora.
The event, 2 to 6 p.m., is free to the public and offers an opportunity for job seekers to interview with some of Tuolumne County’s major employers and learn about upcoming job opportunities.
Participating employers include Adventist Health Sonora, Avalon Health Care, Black Oak Casino Resort, California Department of Corrections, Chicken Ranch Casino, Dodge Ridge, Laborers Training Center, Mother Lode Job Training, Sierra Mountain Construction Inc., Sierra Pacific Industries, Best Western Plus, Sonora Oaks Hotel, Sonora Ford and Subaru of Sonora, The Union Democrat, Tuolumne County Superintendent of Schools, Greater Valley Conservation Center and WATCH Resources.
Oktoberfest set Saturday in Twain Harte
Eproson Park in Twain Harte on Saturday will filled with live music, German food and more during the 12th annual Oktoberfest presented by the Twain Harte Area Chamber of Commerce.
The day will begin with artisan and craft vendor booths opening at 10 a.m.
The Oktoberfest will begin at 11 a.m. and will feature 24 craft beers, wine and German food under a large tent. Music will be performed from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. by the Black Irish Band, and from 2 to 4 p.m. by Agent.
Cost to attend the Oktoberfest is $40 per person or $75 per couple and includes a commemorative beer mug.
The event will also include a children’s play area with bounce house, and a hot dog lunch for children will be available for $5 per child.
Tuolumne County Transit will provide transportation from the Twain Harte Market upper parking area to the park every 15 minutes.

The Twain Harte Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a Business After Hours Oktoberfest Mixer Oct. 10 in the parking lot of Coldwell Banker in downtown Twain Harte.
The event will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and will include German-themed foods with a no-host bar.

Fine food, wine, cider tasting planned
Sampling of fine food, wines and ciders will be offered Oct. 24 when Black Oak Casino Resort and the Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce present A Sip of Wine, A Taste of Food and a Touch of Business.
The event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seven Sisters at Black Oak Casino Resort in Tuolumne.
A silent auction also will be held.
