Murphys winery earns silver at international competition
Moody Ridge Winery in Murphys earned a silver medal for its 2014 cabernet sauvignon at the 37th annual San Francisco International Wine Competition held this past summer.
More than 4,300 wines from more than 30 countries were judged by 58 wine experts.
Moody Ridge Winery is a family owned and operated business developed by Robert Moody and his father, Carl, in 1995.
The winery uses innovative sustainable wine growing practices, stated a press release.

The Twain Harte Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking craft vendors for its 12th annual Oktoberfest, slated for Oct. 7 at Eproson Park in Twain Harte.
Vendors will be open beginning at 10 a.m., the Oktoberfest tent opens at 11 a.m., and everything shuts down at 4 p.m.
Live music will be performed by the Black Irish Band from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and by Agent until closing.
Traditional German food will be served under the tent, and there will be more than 25 craft breweries on hand for tasting. Wine will also be available.
Cost for a booth is $37.50 for the day.

The Twain Harte Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a Business After Hours Oktoberfest Mixer Oct. 10 in the parking lot of Coldwell Banker in downtown Twain Harte.
The event will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and will include German-themed foods with a no-host bar.
Members and guests are encouraged to bring a raffle gift that showcases their business.
