Drifters Grill at Lake Tulloch has new operators.

Copperopolis residents Craig and Jennifer Baldi have leased the business from owners John and Kathy Martin. The couple have updated the menu to include a mix of seafood, burgers, salads, sandwiches and artisan brick-oven pizzas. They also offer vegetarian and lighter fare for those who are “watching their bikini bodies,” said Craig Baldi. Nothing on the menu costs more than $13.

The restaurant’s alcoholic beverages include six beers on tap and cocktails such as the Drifterita, Oh My! Mai Tai, Calypso cooler and a blackberry and basil mojito.

Craig Baldi said the tropical-themed restaurant is right on the water, with about 75 percent of the seating outside.

Craig Baldi is a French-classic trained chef who attended the New England Culinary Institute in Vermont. He’s worked all over the country, from New York to Newport Beach, including as a partner at Holdren’s Steak and Seafood in Santa Barbara and as executive chef at the Riba Grill in South Lake Tahoe. Jennifer Baldi has managed bars and restaurants for most of her adult life. The formerly seasonal restaurant will be open year-round.

Current hours are from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays, and from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Hours will be lengthened and a day added during the summer months.
