The Sonora Wildcat volleyball team demolished Lathrop 3-0 (25-7, 25-5, 25-9) on Tuesday to remain undefeated in the Valley Oak League.
“It can be very hard to play against slower-paced teams so I am very proud of our girls for playing our level of volleyball throughout the match,” said Wildcat head coach Kim Evans. “No matter who was in the game for us, we continued to play high-level volleyball. All of the girls work hard in practice so it is always nice to be able reward their hard work.
“We have a lot of talent on this team and the girls do a great job of supporting each other.”
For the Wildcats (16-6, 4-0 VOL) on serve, Anneka Pisula went 21 for 23 with eight aces, Gracia Gagnon was 10 for 11 with seven aces, Shannon Friend was 8 for 9 with five aces; Hitting: Gagnon had eight kills, Mariah Armstrong had four and Abby Runte and Pisula each had three; Blocks: Armstrong had two block assists, Byranna Owens had one block solo and one block assist and Runte, Pisula, Cassidy Knowles and Tyler Swycinsky had one block assist each; Digs: Gagnon had nine, Maddie Pallante had seven and Runte and Pisula each had two; Assists: Pisula was 28 for 28 with 11 assists, Elise Amend was 20 for 20 with seven assists and Maria Chacon was 6 for 6 with three assists.
The Wildcats next will host Manteca at Bud Castle Gym on Thursday at 6 p.m.
