DELHI Bothered by a trapping Delhi defense, the Tioga High School basketball team fell 51-30 in a non-league game Monday night.
The Timberwolves (0-2) couldnt get their offense started because of turnovers caused by the energized Hawks (3-0).
We just couldnt handle their pressure, Tioga coach Matt Marinovich said. And we really dont have anyone stepping up offensively. Theyre trying hard, but were just having trouble shooting.
Tioga didnt lack for shots, but made only 20 percent of its attempts and cheated itself out of some looks at the basket.
We had our opportunities in the first half, said Marinovich. Wed make a steal, but then wed turn it right back over to them.
Guard J.R. Morgan led Tioga with eight points.
Tioga plays its home opener tonight at 6:30 against the Sports Academy of Stockton at Tenaya School in Groveland.
