Thompson just misses 300 in No-Tap tourney |
By RUTH ABREO For The Union Democrat Scoring at Black Oak Lanes this week took a downturn, with 258 being the high game and nobody turning in a 700 series. Ralph Caspary (Helakno Full House) found the mark pretty well though with a 258 game and 669 series to best Rick Hidalgo (High Rollers) who rolled a 666, by three pins for the men. For the women, it was Sandra Lattin, who in two different leagues, had the high game of 227 (High Rollers) and 533 series in Jokers Wild which tied Sharon McThorn (Summer Morning Rollers) with the high total. Other notable scores show Carroll Manning (High Rollers) with a 659 and Les Olson (Helakno Full House) with a 254. There were no 700 series bowled for this report. In the, “I can’t believe that I beat myself,” we have Carroll Manning (High Rollers) with 71/137 pins over average with 245/659; Bill Hall and John Crass both of Young at Heart with 82/149 over with 226/581 and 79 over with 245, respectively. Meanwhile, in the Uncertified league arena and in the Black Oak 9-Pin No-Tap, Ron Thompson missed a 300 by just two pins for a 298 and had a 796 series. For the women, Norma Espino bowled a 266/703. The Sonora Regional Medical Center league had Jackie Ferreira with a 257 and Nancy Drews with a 477, which is the current league high series.
