TURLOCK Elizabeth Watts and Kayley Rasmussen swam to six personal-bests apiece for Tuolumne County Aquatics-Sonora Sport and Fitness in the Central Valley Aquatics meet at Pitman High School.
Watts set personal-bests in the 100-meter freestyle (1 minute, 2.97 seconds), 50 backstroke (:34.05), 50 breaststroke (:42.63), 50 freestyle (:29.40), 100 breaststroke (1:29.57) and 200 freestyle (2:24.30). Her times in the 100 freestyle, 50 backstroke and 50 freestyle were her first A times, while her 50 breaststroke was a B time.
Rasmussen dropped a combined 34 seconds while achieving personal bests in the 100 freestyle (1:26.50), 50 breaststroke (47.67), 100 individual medley (1:39.24), 50 freestyle (38.56), 100 breaststroke (1:44.26) and 200 freestyle (3:14.66). Rasmussen achieved new B marks in the 100 IM and 200 freestyle, and a BB mark in the 100 breast.
Also setting personal-bests were William Watts with five (including A times in the 50 free and 100 IM), John Allen (four bests), Nicole Henderson (four, including BB times in the 100 free, 50 free and 50 butterfly) and Maija Swanson (four). Austin Nieh set a new A time in the 100 back, and Jenny Feriani reached a B standard in the 200 freestyle by dropping 14 seconds of her time.
Swimmers who reach the B times qualify for the B Championships, scheduled for early November in Galt. BB times make swimmers eligible for the Junior Olympic meet, scheduled for early next year.
