Seasoned veterans and rookie swimmers were back in action at Sonora Sports and Fitness Center for a TCA Mini Meet on June 27. Troy Beebe, Megan Caughey, Hayden Jones, Simon Mills, Trevor Mills, Grace Nunnelley, Britian Traub and Alan Wells led the group of 43 swimmers.

Those eight swimmers excelled in all four of their events.

Troy Beebe, 12, continued his unbroken streak of improvement. He was especially powerful in his 50 butterfly (52.25) and 50 breaststroke (54.98) racing veteran swimmers and shaving five seconds off both events.

Megan Caughey, 12, improved by a combined nine seconds in her 50-yard length swims. Her strength for the day was also her 50 butterfly (36.37) and 50 backstroke (39.16). Also swimming in 50 yards of each stroke were Simon Mills, 12, and Trevor Mills, 12, Grace Nunnelley, 10, and Alan Wells who each improved exponentially. The four swimmers all made the most strides in their backstroke events, combining for 11 seconds of time advancement.

Britain Traub, 9, had her best meet of her season, gaining the rewards of the hard work in her 50 breaststroke (57.92). Competing in 25 yards of each stroke, Hayden Jones, 5, earned new personal records by over seven seconds in her 25 backstroke (45.60) and 25 breaststroke (55.36).

With the concentration being on stroke and technique over the last few weeks, numerous swimmers bettered themselves not only on time but on technique. Jessica Berry, 9, Payton Frediani, 10, Avery Jones, 8, Gabby Luczy, 6, Kaeden Rock, 9, Tanner VanBebber, 11, and Brevin Wilson, 11, demonstrated increased skill in the butterfly stroke, touching the wall legally with two hands. Rajah Foerstner, 11, Weston Groularte, 12, Avery Gratwick, 12, Davey Pish, 9, and Megan Ronneburg, 10, had excellent rotation on their backstroke, decreasing their stroke count for the extent of their races and attempting a backstroke flip turn at the wall.

Kendal Boone, 10, Isabella Luczy, 8, Eve Powell, 10, and Amanda Teem, 9, had all the power in their breaststroke events, doing underwater pulldowns for the first time in a meet.  In freestyle, the emphasis being on rotation, Dylan Ablin, 8, Sofia Alomia, 8, Kelsey Burr, 10, Jenna Kroeze, 8, Spencer Morlan, 10, and Paige Tipton, 6, all make big strides.

When the swimmers reach a certain level, they advance to longer events. In this meet those swimmers were Dylan Ablin, 8, Eden Console-Taylor, 10, and Hanna Nunnelley.

Several 8-and-under swimmers showed that their hard work has paid off since returning to the pool in April. These swimmers bettered their times in two or more of their events for the day: Ella Boone, 7, Jessica Popke, 7, Ben Ronneburg, 7, Marin Shuey, 7, and Sofia Vasquez, 8.

Spencer Morlan, 10, Reese Morlan, 7, Liah Ronneburg, 5, all made their Mini Meet debut.
