Tuolumne County Special Olympians earned eight gold, four silver and three bronze medals last weekend at the Summer Games held at UC Davis.
Joe Delgado and Noah Strong both earned two golds and a bronze in track and field events to lead the local athletes and Jeffery Kohler-Crowe added two golds.
Delgado won the 400 meter and 800 meter and finished third in the 200. Strong took first in the 25 and 50 meter runs and was third in the softball throw. Kohler-Crowe earned gold in the 50 meter walk and tennis ball throw.
Sarah Furtado and Sinclair Darr both earned a gold and silver medals in swim events. Furtado was the fastest in the 50 freestyle and earned silver in the 50 backstroke. Darr won the 100 free and took silver in the 50 back.
Furtado and Darr teamed with Karissa Archer and Ashley Dorsett to win gold in the 50 free relay. Archer also won silver in the 50 free and Dorsett took bronze in the 25 free.
The team of Timothy Collie, Austin Ennis, Kourtney Alcantara and Sloan Harwell earned silver in bocce ball.
