Sonora volley star to host clinic

Sonora High School student Jessica Peterson will host a hitters' volleyball clinic Saturday for eighth-graders through sophomores as part of her senior exit project.

There's room for 50 players and the cost is $5, which includes a T-shirt. Call 533-2980 for information.

Peterson and Sonora coach Darla Mayhew will offer instruction in the art of hitting from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Peterson was the Valley Oak League's Most Valuable Hitter in 2001 and its Most Valuable Player in 2002 as she helped Sonora win back-to-back championships.

She'll be a scholarship player at Fresno State University next season.
