Soccer camps, clinics coming up

The annual Eddie David Soccer Camp begins next Monday at Standard Park.

Hosted by the former Stanislaus State University coach whose name it bears, the camp is hosted by Tuolumne County Youth Soccer.

• David also will instruct a California Youth Soccer Association "F" clinic for coaches Saturday, Aug. 9, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Columbia College. The free clinic focuses on first-time coaches or those who haven't yet attended a coaching clinic. The curriculum includes basic soccer skills and how to teach them to young players. Interested coaches should call 532-KICK.

• A goalkeeping clinic for coaches is set for Aug. 9 and 10 at, with a classroom session the first day from 6 to 9 p.m. and a field session from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. the second day. Basic keeping skills, positioning and ball distribution will be covered. The cost is $10. Call 532-KICK.
