SENIOR ROLLERS were at it again in their monthly no-tap tournament, which saw four different winners at Sonora Family Bowl.
Grace Willis had the high scratch game for women, a 251, while Terry Hall's 769 was the high women's handicap series. For men, Dave Hunter's 273 game was the best and Bill Hall's 834 series topped the field.
Mary Lou Crass was second in women's game at 232 and Terry Hall third at 230, and Joy Avila was second in series at 765 and Crass third at 741. Neil Williams had the second-highest men's game (262) and series (822), Bill Kelly and Whitey Kroll tied for third in men's game (258), and Paul Grazioli had the third-highest men's series (782).
THERE WEREN'T a lot of high scores in winter-league action, but there was a personal-best men's series of 635 by Fred Persson in Tuesday's Finest.
Kelly had the highest game-series combination, a 248-654 in Morning Rollers, and Jim Simmons bowled a 242-653 in Guys and Dolls. For women, Donna Darrin posted a 216 in Dolls, Shirley Parades a 215 in Early Birds, and Martha Cusack a 211 in Gamblers Getaway and Sally Kerns a 211 in Tuesday Nevada.
Jim Simmons busted his game average by 58 points and his series average by 101, and Elaine Simmons went 68 over with a 203 game the same night. In Tuesday Nevada, Paul Thomas went 73 and 58 over with a 233-538, and Kerns beat her game average by 54 and her series average by 85.
