Roundup: Lady Reds softball wins, Bears defeated |
The host Calaveras Redskins softball team prevailed 4-2 over Linden on Tuesday in a battle of Mother Lode Legue unbeatens. The Summerville Bears suffered a 6-1 road loss to Argonaut on Tuesday. Courtney Robinson had both of Summerville’s hits, one a double. The Bears run was scored by Breann Robinson who reached base on a walk. “We just didn’t hit the ball very well,” said Bears assistant coach Ray Emerald. “We under-achieved. Errors (four total) were a problem for us today.”
Cat grad, Vol frosh Frost has first meet The Bret Harte Bullfrogs golf team pushed it’s perfect Mother Lode League record to 7-0 on Tuesday with a 220-239 victory over Amador at Greenhorn Creek. Alex Milward shot a blistering 1-under par 35 to lead all scorers and earn medalist honors. Also for Bret Harte, Jayden Saville fired a 39, Rodney Riner a 41, Patrick Groat a 52 and Scott Hatfield carded a 53. The Bullfrogs next will play Summerville at Mountain Springs on Thursday at 3:30 p.m Frog softball demolishes Amador It was a statistical building day for the Bret Harte softball team. The Bullfrogs trounced Amador 20-1 on Tuesday in Angels Camp. As a team, Bret Harte went 12 for 24 with 16 RBIs. Leading the way for the offense was Bekka Gross and Lauren Lane. Gross went a perfect 3 for 3 with a home run and four runs scored and four runs driven in. Lane also belted a home run and went 2 for 3 with five RBIs. Also for Bret Harte (3-3, 1-2 MLL), Cassidy Davis went 2 for 4 with a triple and three RBIs, Keryn Thompson went 2 for 2 with two runs scored, Kaielin Gilliland smacked a double and scored three runs and CJ Cobb had a double. Taylor O’Connor started in the circle for Bret Harte and threw four no-hit innings, striking our four and walking two. She picked up her third victory of the season. Bret Harte has a rematch with Amador on Thursday in Sutter Creek. First pitch is at 4 p.m. |
