The host Summerville Bears golf team defeated Linden 212-237 on Tuesday at Mountain Springs Golf Course.
“We had outstanding rounds by Spencer Morse (35), Jesse Roberson (38), and Linden received one from Ryan Billigmeir (37),” said Bears head coach Darcy Wingo.
For Summerville, JB Mitchell chipped in an eagle on Hole No. 6.
Mitchell carded a 46. Also scoring for Summerville were Charlie McClung, 46, and Max Wulf 47.

Skins lose, Frogs tie Northgate

The Redskins’ baseball team suffered a 15-2 non-league home loss to Northgate on Tuesday. Tyler Gillis led Calaveras with a pair of hits, Jake Chambers drove in a run with a double and Ian Christensen turned in a scoreless inning in relief.
The host Bret Harte Bullfrogs baseball team played Northgate to a 2-2 tie on Tuesday in Angels Camp.

Bennett also pitched two innings without yielding a run.

Bret Harte stays perfect in MLL

The Bret Harte Bullfrogs golf team remained all alone atop the Mother Lode League standings after a 219-232 road win over Calaveras on Tuesday at La Contenta Golf Course.
At the par-35, Redskin Sean Fitzsimmons earned medalist honors with a 36.
Scoring for Bret Harte were Rodney Riner with a season-low 38, Alex Milward 42, Jayden Saville 44, Scott Hatfield 46 and Nicholas Tribble 49.
Bret Harte is now 10-0 in MLL action, Calaveras 6-3.
The Bullfrogs historic four-and-a-half-year league-winning streak remains intact.
“I was concerned about today’s match because Calaveras has been playing well lately,” said Bullfrogs head coach Rich Cathcart. “They shot a 204 at their home last week. But teams seems to shoot a little higher when they play us.
“I was very pleased with Rodney Riner’s score — I knew he was capable of this. And Scott Hatfield got a very good score considering he’s just a freshman.”
As for the stretch drive to the 2012 MLL title race, Cathcart said, “Our team attitude is really good. Our guys know they have Calaveras and Summerville at our home and our guys have a lot of confidence at home.”
