Registration is Thursday for the Mother Lode Gun Club's winter .22 junior rifle program.
Signups are at 6 p.m. at the club's trap house on Jamestown Road, and the first session of the program is set for the following Thursday. Parents or guardians must accompany participants to signups and are encouraged to attend the first meeting as well.
Registration fee is $20, which covers all materials needed for the program. Firearms, ammunition and targets will be provided. No shooting experience is required.
Meetings will continue through March 13, with juniors to receive training in safety and competitive shooting from 11th-year instructor and National Rifle Association Range Safety Officer Steve Finigian.
The program has served as a starting point for numerous members of the California Service Rifle Team, which has produced many nationally ranked competitors and a number of national champions.
