Skins finish 1-3 at Nor Cal tourney

The Calaveras Redskins softball team went 1-3 at the Nor Cal Tournament in Tracy on Friday and Saturday to close out a six-game week.

The Redskins first lost to Ceres 4-0 before beating Orestimba 2-1. They played Buhach Colony and suffered a 5-0 loss Saturday.

Clovis defeated Calaveras 8-2 in the final game. The Redskins split a doubleheader with the Summerville Bears earlier in the week.

“It took something from everybody,” Redskins head coach Mike Koepp said of Friday’s victory over Orestimba. “Overall, I think we were a little tired being at the end of our break, but we played some really good competition and had some younger girls get in some varsity-level experience.”

Calaveras (8-6, 2-1 MLL) has a two-game series against first-place Argonaut (6-5, 3-1 MLL) this week starting Wednesday in San Andreas. The Redskins play the Mustangs in Jackson on Friday.
