The Tuolumne County Aquatic Masters will host the Pinecrest Open-Water Swim at Pinecrest Lake on Saturday.
More than 150 swimmers are expected to participate, including some from the Bay Area and even a couple from as far away as Colorado. This is the third year of the swim, but the first time it has been sanctioned by U.S. Swimming.
Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and competitors will enter the chilly mountain reservoir in three waves starting at 9. First in the water will be age-group
swimmers and next, at 9:10, will be those who have predicted a finish of 30 minutes or faster. Finally, at 9:15, those who figure to take longer than 30 minutes will take to the lake.
Swimmers must be registered by U.S. Swimming or TCA Masters in order to participate. Registration fee is $30.
