Sagen Maddalena was the big winner at the High Power Match held at the Mother Lode Gun Club on June 2.
Parents of the six California Grizzlies graduating from high school turned the match in to a “Graduation Party” by providing a barbecue immediately following the match to honor Maddalena, Lane Ichord, Dylan Lyons, Brad Pappageorge and Hollie Swenson. Around 60 participated.
Maddalena, of Groveland, won the match amongst a field of 32 competitors.
With a total score of 590-22X, Maddalena swept the individual Offhand and Rapid Sitting positions.
High Senior went to Jim O’Connell from Alameda with a score of 585-8X.
Kayla Swenson, of Mi-Wuk, took the High Woman honors with a score of 562-7X.
Morgan Owen, of Sonora, earned High Junior with a score of 584-11X.
The First Master award went to Owen also, sweeping the individual rapid prone award.
Lane Ichord, of Waterford, earned second Master shooting a 577-19X and Forrest Greenwood, of Ceres, took third with a 572-9X.
Carl Tennis, of Modesto, won first Expert/Sharpshooter with a score of 578-13X, with Mike Brommer, of Turlock in second with 561-6X.
Jason Benicki, of Sonora, won first Marksman with a score of 535-3X.
Mark Banks, of Jamestown, took the second place Marksman with 525-4X, followed by Sophie Christensen, of Sonora, shooting a 516-6X.
Robert Jacobs, of Sonora, won first Unclassified with 534-7X.
The MLGC, the California Rifle and Pistol Association and Sonora Subaru, will host the California State 100-Yard High Power Championship on Saturday, July 7. A club match will be held on Friday, July 6.
The total scores for those shooting both days will go towards winning the Dean Alley Memorial Match Trophy.
Saturday’s results will go toward winning the California Rifle and Pistol Association Bear Trophy.
Immediately following the shoot on Saturday, a barbecue will be held at the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Possegrounds. All are invited.
