Sonora’s varsity boys’ cross country team finished 21st out of 32 teams in the ultra-prestigious Stanford Invitational on Saturday.
Pacing the Wildcats was Steven Grolle who finished in third place out of 224 runners.
Teammate Matt Myers finished 114th, Sean Brennan 124th and Tyler Sommerfeld 128th.
In the girls’ race, Sonora’s Samantha Smith finished in 10th place overall.
“Steven moved up to No. 2 on the all-time Sonora top-10 Stanford times, a mere 0.04 away from being No. 1,” said Wildcats head coach Glenn Bass. “Sam is now No. 1 for the ladies.”
Also in that girls’ race, Summerville’s Kristen Turner finished in 12th place overall.
