Calaveras star Kyle Gouveia grabbed an offensive rebound and made the putback at the buzzer to lift the Redskins over the Argonaut Mustangs 54-54 in a Mother Lode League battle in Jackson.
With just under a minute, TJ Crenshaw canned a trey to put the Redskins up by one point.
Argonaut tied the game with 10.9 seconds left.
On the ensuing inbounds, Argonaut knocked the ball out of bounds under the Calaveras hoop.
With 4.9 ticks remaining, Calaveras got the ball upcourt quick and Kyle Funk let fly a 3-point attempt that was rebounded by Gouveia.
“Argonaut really came to play tonight,” said Redskins head coach Kraig Clifton. “They are ready for playoffs that is for sure.”
Gouveia scored 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, both Redskin highs, and Mike Seawell added 10 points.
The Redskins (20-5, 14-1 MLL) finish as the MLL champions by three games over the Mustangs and figure to get a lofty seed today when the Sac-Joaquin Section releases the playoff brackets.
Calaveras should host a first-round contest, and maybe a second if it wins.
