Bret Harte’s Scott Hatfield is the top Mother Lode League golfer this season.
Hatfield, a junior, earned the award after collecting the most points and capped off his outstanding year by placing first with a 76 at the MLL’s End of Season Golf Tournament on Thursday at Mountain Springs.
It was the second time this season that the Bullfrog standout won the league tournament.
“He’s a really good player, and he’s getting better every year,” said Bret Harte head coach Rich Cathcart on Sunday. “I think that he will do well at the divisionals tomorrow."
Hatfield’s teammate, Mitchell Menzes, Calaveras Redskins Sean Fitzsimmons and Garett Williams, and Summerville Bears Jordan Fish and Max Wulf along with Linden golfer Andrew Castillou were also First-Team All-MLL performers.
“Mitchell Menzes, he’s only a freshman,” Cathcart said. “He could be the best freshman that we ever had. His scoring average is lower than any freshman ever.”
Hatfield, Menzes, Fish, Wulf and the Calaveras Redskins golf team will head to the Divisional Tournament today at Peach Tree Country Club in Marysville.
