WILTON Mother Lode Christian School's baseball team pounded out a 22-2, 24-0 doubleheader sweep of non-league opponent Wilton Christian on Saturday.
The Cougars (2-0-1) had 33 hits and held Wilton to two, getting a combined no-hitter in the second game from pitchers Cory Henson, Steve Baldwin, and Josh Price. Baldwin and Price each pitched one inning and each struck out the side.
Josh Neal was the winning pitcher in the first game, tossing a two hitter. Both games ended after five innings on the 10-run-lead rule.
Price and Neal both went 3-for-5 with a double in the opener, and Neal doubled and singled again in Game 2. Price went 5-for-6 with a double and triple, Henson doubled twice and singled, and German exchange student Flo Naumann went 2-for-3 in the nightcap.
Mother Lode is scheduled to begin Mountain Valley League play this week with road games against Don Pedro tomorrow and Elliot Christian of Lodi on Thursday.
Jessica Aubrey capped a successful Modesto Christian Tournament for the Summerville softball team by no-hitting North Hills Christian of Vallejo on Saturday for a 6-1 win.
Aubrey struck out nine and allowed an unearned run in the first inning for the Bears, which posted a 2-1 record at the tournament.
"Jessica hit her spots," Summerville coach Ben Watson said. "She was working with a first-time catcher (Holly Sisco), and they both did a great job."
After falling behind 1-0 in Aubrey's no-hitter, Courtney Buljan put the Bears ahead to stay with a two-RBI single, driving in Sisco and Sierra Lovett to highlight a three-run second inning.
Kelsey Wingo then helped put the game away with a run-scoring single during Summerville's two-run third inning.
In the Bears' 7-3 victory over Fresno Christian on Friday, Aubrey picked up the complete-game win with 11 strikeouts against just three walks.
