Sonora Wildcat seniors Justin Payne and Ryan Stevenson were rewarded Friday for their outstanding efforts on the baseball diamond this season.
Payne was named to the All-Valley Oak League First Team while Stevenson was named to the Second Team.
Payne, the Wildcats’ shortstop, made just three errors at the infield’s busiest position. He also carried a .317 league batting average and was a top producer in almost every offensive category.
Overall, Payne hit .325 and connected for the team’s two home runs on the season.
Stevenson, the lefty hurler, went 2-3 in league play with a 2.23 earned run average.
Overall, Stevenson went 7-3 with a 1.59 ERA striking out 120 batters in 70 1/3 innings.
The Wildcats finished 4-10 in the VOL tied for sixth.
Oakdale’s Eriksen Dickens was the league’s MVP and his coach Hondo Arpoika was named the top boss as the Mustangs won their seventh consecutive league title.
