Cat soccer trounces Weston Ranch, 4-1 |
The Sonora Wildcat soccer team trounced Weston Ranch 4-1 on Wednesday at Dunlavy Field. “We started using a new formation which led to a lot of offense for us,” said Wildcat head coach Lloyd Longeway. “It created a lot of chances, something we weren’t doing earlier this year. We’re gaining a lot of confidence.” Sonora fell behind 1-0 after the first five minutes but answered with three first-half goals. Joe Cahill scored the Wildcats’ first goal off an assist from Andrew Klatt. Barrett McLaughlin scored the Wildcats’ second goal and Cameron Armas drew a penalty kick which he converted for a 3-1 lead. Matt Howard scored the Wildcats’ final goal off a corner kick from McLaughlin. “Cayden McLaughlin did a great job in goal for us tonight and our defense led by Shane Hopper was stellar,” said Longeway. “Barrett is having a great season for us and he brought a lot of energy tonight that we really needed. And our freshman, Scott Liggett, has been playing a lot of minutes and doing well. He’s got a bright future ahead of him.” The Wildcats (4-3-1 Valley Oak League) next will play at Lathrop on Monday. |
